The Building Culture Award was established more than three decades ago; outstanding construction projects are honoured in order to raise public awareness of the importance of high-quality, sustainably effective construction and planning for society and the environment. The focus is on the successful cooperation between clients and their professional partners in planning. Architecture is understood as a reflection of overall social and cultural processes and social, political, economic, ecological, technological and aesthetic influences and effects are also taken into consideration. The vai has been an organisational partner of the award for many years, is responsible for the jury process (Jury 2025: Prof. Stephan Birk, architect, Birk Heilmeyer und Frenzel Architekten, Stuttgart and Chair of Architecture and Timber Construction at the Technical University of Munich | Angelika Fitz, Director of the Architekturzentrum Wien | Sandra Gnigler, architect, mia2 Architektur, Linz) and is involved in the accompanying publication.
