The Styrian photo biennial photo graz continuously presents the current photography scene in Graz and Styria. photo graz 024 showed a multifaceted snapshot with 150 artists, from which photo graz selection VI now selects 25 positions. These illustrate the vibrancy and diversity of Styrian photography. From the 1950s onwards, Graz developed into a centre of progressive photography – more so than Vienna. This tradition still characterises the scene today. The exhibition brings together artists from different generations (born between 1940 and 2005) and reflects not only technical developments, but also social themes such as identity, images of women, climate change and migration. Historical photographic techniques such as camera obscura or solar photography meet AI-generated images. The exhibition photo graz selection VI, curated by Gerhard Gross and now on show at the Austrian Cultural Forum Istanbul, brings together individual images and series.
