The exhibition shows a cross-section of Wolfgang Flatz’s work. In addition to sculptural works, FLATZ is known above all for his provocative performances. He uses the body as a medium to negotiate themes such as identity and the potential for violence in society. The interaction between audience and artist is a constant component of his performative works. His works are characterised by a deep examination of human perception and the way in which we interpret our environment. This ranges from a preoccupation with vehicles and their deconstruction to Austria’s National Socialist past. A temporary installation by the artist will be on display at the voestalpine open space, which has been specially developed for the OK Linz and shows some of his mobile sculptures. FLATZ’s car sculptures are an expression of his exploration of the idea of mobility and the role of the car in contemporary culture. The transformation of everyday automobiles into artistic objects creates a new perspective on these familiar machines.
