Julian Heuser’s works raise more questions than answers. What initially appears abstract, dynamic and atmospheric on the canvas turns out on closer inspection to be a field full of uncertainties that is intended to confront us with the riddle of our own existence in the here and now. To this end, he uses the traditional medium of painting as a projection surface and questions our relationship to the ever-increasing influence of modern screen surfaces through the combined use of digital and analogue materials. This is the German artist’s second solo exhibition at Elektrohalle, featuring brand-new paintings and installations conceived specifically for this presentation.
