On the occasion of the 26th edition of the international festival for film and film music ‘Music & Cinema Marseille’, an impressive number of Austrian or Austrian-based filmmakers have been invited to Marseille with their feature-length and short fiction films as well as composers of film music. In addition, the DIAGONALE is presenting seven more Austrian short fiction films of its choice in Marseille for the first time as part of a so-called ‘Carte Blanche’ – also thanks to the long-standing cooperation between the Cultural Forum Paris and the festival. They include ‘Pfau__Bin_ich_echt? (‘Peacock’) by Bernhard Wenger (in the Feature Film Competition) with film music by Lukas Lauermann, as well as ‘Ich melde mich’ (‘I’ll be in touch’) by director Johann Scholz (in the Short Film Competition) and composer Matthias Gunther; also ‘Mein Papa fährt Ferrari’ by Phillip Ivanscis, ‘Stück für Stück’ by Reza Rasouli and the film ‘Tako Tsubo’ by directors Eva Pedroza and Fanny Sorgo. Last year, music students from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) were involved in the festival for the first time with the support of the cultural forum Paris.
