The exhibition taking place at the Albertina is the first museum exhibition of the US-Italian artist Francesca Woodman (1958-1981) in Austria. The artist created her oeuvre in an eight-year creative phase from 1973 to 1981 and her work is characterised by a passionate self-presentation and the creative positioning of the female body in space, in the context of conceptual photography and performance. The themes of her works revolve around femininity, vulnerability and creative self-presentation.
