A hewn granite obelisk stands monolithically in the room as a relic of a past or future civilisation. Opposite it, anatomical shapes of unclear origin gather together – seemingly dripping wet, as if they have just been removed from their incubator, or already neatly arranged, ready to be transferred to another existence.
Florian Appelt unfolds his multi-faceted palette of materials and colours in multi-layered combinations of pigmented epoxy resin, XPS and steel: bone-like structures with velvety surfaces, pastel-coloured or deep black, viscous-looking high-gloss alloys raise the question: Who or what is actually being healed in this self-healing process? Is this all a spare parts store for a body of the future, and thus the prospect of healing within reach? With an aesthetic precision that is otherwise only used in high-end product design, the artist focuses his work in Bildraum 07 on the examination of the future that has already begun and its possible manifestations.
