For the first time, this exhibition brings together works by the artist Park McArthur from the 2010s and 2020s. Jointly organised by mumok, Vienna and Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach, it is a collaboration between the two institutions that can be experienced simultaneously at both venues. The exhibition – curated by Matthias Michalka – offers the opportunity to engage with McArthur’s practice and its connection to a younger generation of artists who resist a separation of critique and imagination with material-based strategies that respond to the institution. McArthur’s work, which first came to the attention of a wider public through a solo exhibition of mobile ramps, disabled parking signs and the Wikipedia entry on Marta Russell, a disabled writer and activist (Ramps, 2014), has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions.
