In the form of graphic scores, landscape photographs and an experimental animated film, Sophie Thammer and Sihua Ren show the entire genesis of ’a wide field‘in the Gang Gallery: An intensive exploration of the 1st movement of the Symphony in A major KV 201, describing different approaches to visualising the musical structures of the piece. Based on the assumption that the different landscapes on Mozart’s long journeys inspired the composition, the artists set themselves the task of artistically investigating the connection between the symphony and agricultural structures and processes. The parameters in the music are initially assigned graphically abstract forms, later traces of agricultural machinery.
