The group exhibition – curated by Ines Kaufmann – was developed by colleagues from Vienna for the Schaumbad in Graz and will also set a cross-provincial focus for the coming years. PHOENIX OUT OF THE ASHES is an artistic exploration of the themes of rebirth, renewal and metamorphosis and offers a deep insight into the human experience, which is characterized by constant change and renewal. By combining different media, such as photography, painting, video and sculpture, the phoenix motif, which symbolizes eternal renewal in many cultures, is illuminated from different perspectives. The starting point is the inevitable decay and end of all that exists, whereby the works thematize transience and the inevitable necessity of transformation.
