Bike messengers are now a common sight in many larger cities. In Vienna, too, hundreds of food delivery cyclists ride around every day, delivering meals quickly to the office or home. Who are the people behind the colourful uniforms and large rucksacks? What challenges do they face in their day-to-day work, and what do they experience on their journeys through the dense city traffic? ‘Between Pick up & Drop off’, curated by Fabio Hofer, enables encounters with suppliers beyond the anonymous handover of orders: In video portraits framed with other materials on the work of the ‘riders’, they talk about precarious working conditions, competition, time pressure and isolation, but also about personal hopes and plans.
