Simona Pavoni discovered the rich tradition of embroidery in Austrian culture after her arrival in Graz as part of the Styria Artist-in-Residence Programme of the Styrian Department of Culture. Her exhibition reflects the importance of embroidery as a method closely linked to meditation, breath and time, which she uses as a working approach in various materials. Inspired by the local custom of preserving intimate and historical spaces to show past ways of life, she explored the elements that connect or separate a living space. Using material remnants, paintings and sculptures, she created boundaries and points of attraction.
