The 2025 exhibition programme at L.art Galerie in Salzburg begins with two new artists. Sissa Micheli, who stages performative stagings of real or fictitious events in her artistic photography. By staging the textiles in front of the unclothed model’s body and face, a play between concealment and exposure is created, whereby the viewer is made aware of the vulnerability of the human being. In series such as ‘The Metaphysics of folds’, ‘Choreography of Moments, Fragile Moments’ or ‘The Infinite Fold’, the thrown fabrics and garments play the main role, albeit in dialogue with the body they envelop. Folding and lighting are central to this, parameters that bring Sissa Micheli’s photographs close to painting. Objects and places that have no compelling relationship to one another are placed in relation to one another, thus opening up new perspectives. Surreal scenes with poetic arrangements are created in which reality and fiction seem to merge.
Kathrin Isabell Rhomberg, whose oil paintings are based on metallic, reflective surfaces that capture their surroundings and reproduce them in the form of an artistic play of colours. The central theme in the works of both artists on display is drapery. A motif that has been anchored in art history for centuries, which Sissa Micheli and Kathrin Isabell Rhomberg translate and reinterpret in different contemporary ways.
