The painter Jürgen Vanek began painting in the 1990s to give his feelings the space he could not give them with words. Over the past 30 years, his intensive examination of his own history has resulted in a body of work full of anger, sadness and joy. The creative process is always fast, spontaneous and impulsive. Vanek paints sitting on the floor. His early work mainly comprises drawings produced with the help of a computer programme in the 1990s. He later added pencil and ballpoint pen drawings, as well as acrylic paintings on paper and canvas. The main themes of his paintings in recent years have been sexuality, physicality and nudity.
