For more than 20 years, the Winterfest has celebrated the unique art form of contemporary circus every year around Christmastime. For several weeks, Salzburg’s Volksgarten is transformed into a magical venue for the highest circus art and invites internationally renowned, hand-picked companies to its tents. A total of 73 performances are on the programme over 35 days. The performances of the largest festival of its kind in the German-speaking world take place in the tent city in the Volksgarten, in the SZENE Salzburg and in the TOIHAUS theatre. The four international companies NoFit State Circus (Wales, UK), Théâtre d’Un Jour (Belgium), FLIP Fabrique (Canada), Cirque Pardi! (France) take the audience into fantastic atmospheric worlds. With CIRCUS ViSiON, the Austrian circus scene is also represented once again.
