Sediment is the first exhibition in a series with guest curators. Curated by Dicle Bestas and Basak Senova, the exhibition itself reflects on the impact of socio-political, ecological and economic issues on the environment we inhabit. The starting point for this was extensive curatorial research in the archive of Loading, a non-profit art space specialising in Diyarbakir and the surrounding areas in south-eastern Turkey, which provides a multi-layered perspective on the local art scene and the socio-political and ecological problems of the regions inhabited by Kurds. The project was characterised by the strong presence of female artists in the archive. As one of the results of the research, the exhibition brings together positions from the archive with two female artists from Graz and Skopje, incorporating locations such as the Hevsel Gardens in the Tigris Basin or the ancient city of Hasankeyf as well as the rivers Vardar and Mur.
