Once a year, the festival presents the best of current international cinema for children and young people and makes it accessible to Austrian audiences. With a selection from the children’s film genre that is carefully tailored to the respective age group, it offers a multi-faceted programme that appeals to children aged 4 to 14 just as much as their adult companions. This year’s content ranges from the joy of Christmas, the fear of the first day of school, girls’ football or friendships that make you brave, from first love to political empowerment, and from dealing with strokes of fate to feel-good movies for the whole family. Several productions deal with the topic of inclusion, while another focus is on animated films in a wide variety of forms. An excursion into genre cinema is offered by a classic adventure story and a real scary film for children.
