Ever since mankind became sedentary, spatial information has been recorded and boundaries documented. Initially, angles and distances were determined from fixed points in nature and plotted on maps and plans, but later the curvature of the earth was also taken into account and complex arithmetic operations were developed. In modern geodesy, drones with measuring cameras and laser technology are also used. With over 100 original historical exhibits that have never been shown before, mostly from the legacy of engineer Christian Wismayr and from the holdings of the Department of Geoinformation and Real Estate at the Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government, visitors are introduced to the fascination of surveying technology in this exhibition.
