The young design collective Gemeinde-Bau (Katja-Anna Krug, Max Kure, Leo Mühlfeld, Anton Posch) conveys intuitively and exemplarily how blockchain technology and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) can be used in very different areas for visions of the future – for example in a private residential community, for public use of the museum garden or as an instrument for open discourse. The exhibition uses interactive elements and visual storytelling to promote a new understanding of how democratic decision-making processes are organized and to make complex topics such as blockchain and DAOs clear and tangible. The focus is on the question of how digital tools can be used to activate participation in the museum and beyond. Visitors are invited to work together to develop ideas for decentralized co-creation, try out speculative approaches and discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital tools. For school classes, the exhibition offers an ideal opportunity to acquire digital skills and to playfully experience and understand different forms of shaping democracy.
