Show me who you are!, curated by Sabine Fellner, brings together international positions that are characterized by their multifaceted approach to identity, self-presentation and social role. The title itself formulates a challenge that invites the viewer to examine the complex interactions between facial expression, public representation and what lies hidden behind the visible surface. The portraits on display not only reveal the artist’s gaze, but also reflect the socio-political and cultural conditions that are expressed in the faces depicted. In this way, the works create a transcending discourse in which the viewer is encouraged to question their own relationship and the concept of the portrait as a historical paradigm.
