Poetics of Power presents works that revolve around the seductive nature and also the destructive face of power. Through artistic approaches, symbols and ideas are explored that sometimes disguise or conceal power relations while revealing anomalies and cracks in which cultural imbalances and inequalities become visible. Curated by Andreja Hribernik & Nini Palavandishvili, the exhibition sheds light on power asymmetries that often lead to exploitative relationships and defines them as colonial and neo-colonial relationships that subsequently lead to conflicts and migration flows. Themes such as war, flight, crime, humanity, gender, children, mobility and borders are explored and thematised in multidisciplinary works. The exhibited works encompass various media, including photography, video, sculpture and installation.
With works by Yael Bartana, Vajiko Chachkhiani, Jošt Franko, Gabriela Golder, Cristian Inostroza, Grada Kilomba, Daria Koltsova, Goshka Macuga, Daniela Ortiz, Ahmet Öğüt, Erkan Özgen, Hannes Priesch, Monira al Qadiri, Zanny Begg and Oliver Ressler, Anna Zvyagnitseva, Lukas Marxt, Ala Savashevich.
