The Berufsvereinigung Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler Vorarlbergs (BVKV) is starting after the summer break with four new exhibitions by national and international artists. Kirsten Borchert, Regina Zachhalmel, Eric Kressnig and Lucas Dietrich will be presenting both current and existing works at the Künstlerhaus Bregenz.

The exhibition ‘alles neu’ by German-born artist Kirsten Borchert, who lives and works in Vienna, will be presented in the basement and on the ground floor of the Künstlerhaus. The collages and installations on display defy familiar viewing habits and question supposedly universal structures and processes.

Regina Zachhalmel is showing textile objects and drawings in her exhibition ‘No moral Tales.’ on the first floor of the Künstlerhaus. Materiality plays a key role here. In different media formats, which are mostly arranged in multipart series or blocks, set pieces from banal everyday life, but also from art and cultural history, are linked to form a far-reaching associative network. In a process of artistic valorization, the predominantly cheaply produced source materials are given an independent work character.

Eric Kressnig is also exhibiting on the first floor of the Künstlerhaus – under the title ‘von Ost und Western’. His work is characterized by the basic categories of visual and spatial art, their perception, order and irritation. The exploration takes place in various media and repeatedly thematizes space and its dimensions of experience. The works focus on the forms and colours themselves and play with the viewer’s perception.

Under the title ‘100 Heads’, Vorarlberg-born artist Lucas Dietrich, who lives in Berlin, presents numerous drawings and paintings created over the past few years. Whether in a sketchbook or on canvas, whether as a pencil sketch, acrylic, oil painting or digital drawing – Lucas Dietrich always returns to the simple, straightforward motif of a head. Only in rare cases are they portraits, because they are not depictions in the true sense of the word, nothing that would be owed to realism.
