In 2024, the festival will once again be dedicated to global cinematic diversity with a broad spectrum of narrative, documentary and animated short films. The 2024 film world map of submissions to the Linz ISFF impressively demonstrates the global reach of the festival: 2,750 submissions from 109 countries, including 75 selected short films, almost all of which will celebrate their Austrian, world or international premieres. 11 films will celebrate their world premiere, 43 their Austrian premiere, 7 their European premiere, 5 their international premiere and 6 their Upper Austrian premiere. The budgets of the films range from €250 to €700,000, which emphasises the diversity and importance of the creative voices. In total, the programme includes 22 animated films, 13 documentaries and 38 short fiction films. These include 30 films by students and 20 debut films, which again demonstrates the ambition of the Linz ISFF to support young talent. An international jury of experts will select the best films in the categories best short fiction film, the best documentary, best animated short film, best director, best screenplay, best acting, best editing, best sound, best Austrian film and best queer-feminist film.
