The one-room exhibition Queering Space presents queer perspectives for discussion that also relate to the themes of the surrounding collection exhibition. What is space, who shapes it and whose themes are visible in it? This includes the following questions: Which monuments in public space actually stand for diversity? Why do we need safe spaces? How do gender stereotypes limit the space in our minds – and how does all this affect the approach to art in the museum? To address these issues, the space was designed over a project period of several months in close collaboration with the queer urban society and Salzburg’s LGBTIQ* community. This was done in cooperation with HOSI Salzburg, a human rights organization and the competence centre for sexual, gender and romantic diversity in the city and province of Salzburg and neighbouring Bavaria and Upper Austria. One group developed queer perspectives on the collection exhibition in order to make them visible in the museum. The team members are Lukas Angermann, Ines Kirchschläger (HOSI), Lucia Lerchl, Nadine Mühlböck, Felix Niedl (QueKuSa), Fabian Pichlmayr (HOSI) and Mira Turba.
