Design, i.e. the creation of products, plays a decisive role in the functioning of our consumer society. However, the work of designers can also be a key to an ecologically and socially responsible way of life. The exhibition ‘Design with a Purpose’ at designforum Vorarlberg shows examples of how design can take responsibility, even though it is a tool that was developed in the course of destroying the planet. From everyday objects and crafts to the food sector, the exhibition brings together over 20 items that were created on behalf of and in the context of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. Without claiming to present a solution to the climate crisis, the examples on display prove that design can be responsible, sustainable and inspiring.
