The festival, which takes place annually in September, offers pioneering in-house and co-productions as well as national and international guest performances. It uses the possibilities of contemporary music theatre to create new perspectives on current topics. ‘You have the choice, fish!’ is the motto of the upcoming Musiktheatertage Wien. The festival poses the question of how far we have a choice to influence global situations. The Musiktheatertage Wien will kick off at the Odeon Theatre with Gaia 24: Opera del Mondo by the Ukrainian formation Opera Aperta, a multimedia apocalypse about the rebellion of nature against the destructive power of mankind. In addition to guest performances from Germany, Belgium, Lithuania and Ukraine, in-house and co-productions present time-critical and cross-genre concepts.
