27.09.2024 – 29.09.2024
The new international festival for tolerance will take place in Filzmoos and Ramsau am Dachstein under the motto ‘Torn Years’. Based on an initiative by the mayors of the two communities, the Dachstein Dialogues will set an example that will have an impact far beyond the region. The aim is to bring people from different walks of life together to experience and explore tolerance. The municipalities turned to the author, philosopher and Ö1 presenter Philipp Blom, who is artistic director of the Dachstein Dialogues and who is responsible for the programme. After months of intensive work on conception, financing and communication, a world-class programme has been created for season 24, with leading thinkers and musicians and a very diverse programme of events, from classical lectures to a Brazilian chamber orchestra, from discussions to jazz, yodelling and Schrammel music at the Dachstein mountain station. As far as possible, all events take place in special locations, in farmhouse parlours, barns and old churches, whose personal atmosphere favours encounters and enables and facilitate dialogue. Among the artists and speakers at these first Dachstein Dialogues 2024 are the writer Michael Köhlmeier, the activist Megha Malhotra (Calcutta), the philosopher Michael Ignatieff, the spoken word artist Katharina Wenty, the Ilumina Orchestra, the Bravour-Schrammeln and the Duo Haertel Wascher, as well as the musician couple Benjamin Schmid (violin) and Arianne Haering (piano).
