The generation of electricity from hydropower has characterised Vorarlberg’s recent history and is essential for the energy transition within the European network. To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Vorarlberger Illwerke on 5 November 1924, the exhibition provides insights into visionary large-scale projects, technical masterpieces and enormous efforts to harness this valuable resource. A mosaic of photographs and moving images not only sheds light on technical progress, but also illustrates the difficult conditions of plant construction and the effects on the landscape in the mountainous regions of Vorarlberg.
