The exhibition, which follows on thematically from the exhibition Räume öffnen! that opened in spring, is characterised by continuity and change. The main thematic areas are continued and key works such as Rural Studio: The Butterfly House by Marjetica Potrč, Raumbeule / Transportable Hole by Martin Walde and Space Poem # 5 by Renée Green are still present. The chapter Künstler:innenräume opens up a new spatial aspect. At the same time, numerous new works demonstrate in very different ways how space, body and media are mutually dependent. They focus on interfaces, intermediate spaces, transitions and socio-political criteria and expand the museum space to include spaces of action, experience and memory as well as artistic spaces of thought. In addition to works by representatives of classical modernism such as Edvard Munch or Kurt Schwitters and surprising rediscoveries, the focus is on rarely shown, contemporary and young positions.

With works by Annemarie Avramidis, Anatoliy Babiychuk, Günter Brus, Georg Eisler, Sylvie Fleury, Jari Genser, Johannes Gierlinger, Bruno Gironcoli, Birke Gorm, Renée Green, Elisabeth Grübl, Ilse Haider, Barbara Holub, Max Klinger, Robert Klemmer, Gustav Klimt, Käthe Kollwitz, Aglaia Konrad, Eva Kot’átková, Richard Kratochwill, Dorit Margreiter, Edvard Munch, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Monika Pichler, Walter Pichler, Margot Pilz, Johann Pollhammer, Marjetica Potrč, Lois Renner, Annerose Riedl, Martha Rosler, Ashley Hans Scheirl, Egon Schiele, Kurt Schwitters, Thomas Stimm, Norbert Trummer, Werkstatt Rixdorfer Drucke, Martin Walde, Nikolaus Walter, Andreas Werner and Stephen Willats.
