Vienna is once again the centre of the now legendary SLASH film festival; for the 15th time, the film festival is calling for Austria’s most fantastic genre extravaganza. The most fantastic, scary and strange cinematic capers of contemporary genre cinema are presented in three cinemas. Rarely before have there been so many bizarre, boundary-breaking and grotesque works to discover in the selection of around 80 feature-length and short films as in this year’s festival edition. The spectacle opens with the Austrian premiere of Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, which has already been honoured in Cannes for best screenplay.
