A Viennese municipal building directly on the Vorgartenmarkt, a wall on the campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the car park of Messe Wien, a firewall of the Superbude Hotel, the back wall of a student dormitory and several other surfaces will become the artists’ canvas.
This summer, the Viennese can once again look forward to a new coat of paint for their city: as usual, the Calle Libre Festival attracts visitors with numerous colourful murals. The street art festival invites national and international artists to showcase their talent in public over the course of a week.
Vienna’s second district, Leopoldstadt, is the focus district of the festival this year and will be the venue for all associated activities.
For the 2024 edition of the festival, Calle Libre will focus on the theme of “Community”. According to the organizers, this year’s title “Comm:unity” deals with cohesion within the street art scene, in which “a wide variety of perspectives come together to create a beautiful mosaic of shared experiences.”
