For seven weeks this year, the imperial town of Bad Ischl will once again be transformed into a festival town. Three different operettas will be performed during the summer weeks.
The first is the revue operetta “Märchen im Grand Hotel” by composer Paul Abraham in a specially arranged version. Enchanting, catchy music, jazzy rhythms and fast-paced dance numbers paired with turbulent romance and sparkling humour – with this mixture, “Märchen im Grand Hotel” is a guarantee for good humour and hilarity.
Another main production is the great classic “Der Bettelstudent” by Carl Millöcker. One focus of the main annual programme is dedicated to the great librettist Fritz Löhner-Beda. In addition to the opening piece, Lehár’s “Der Sterngucker” was also written by him; in the foyer of the Kongress- und Theaterhaus, the exhibition “Immer nur lächeln …” presents the stages of his life and the matinee “Bananen? Ausgerechnet?” is a reminder of his masterpieces.
