Vienna-based artist Philipp Fleischmann works mainly with the medium of analogue film. He often develops site-specific cameras for his projects, which enable him to reflect on the physical and cultural dimensions of institutional spaces. He is currently exploring the possibilities of ‘queer abstraction’ in film.
‘Flashes of Resilience’ deals with the interplay between visual art and film. The exhibition shows a 735 cm long film sculpture that runs at 18 frames per second and explores the possibilities of queer abstraction. The work triggers a constant shift in sensation and embodies the effort and resilience required to master the complexity of attribution and the ability to act.
