Harry Raidl’s paintings and ceramic sculptures form a unity and cannot be separated from his person. His works are fuelled by popular cultural, political and personal set pieces. He has designed his own symbols, decorates himself with medals, is interested in militaria, gas masks, crosses, billy goats and similar motifs, which he incorporates into his art. His paintings look like enraptured history paintings, heavy metal record covers, film styles or fan portraits, created with the naive-abstract filters of the artist figure Harry Raidl. The titles of the works sound descriptive of the situation, like phrases from a song lyric, which remain timelessly relevant. Raidl’s art is like a hard rock song; anyone who can identify with his style becomes and remains a fan.
