Photographer Liz Nicol lives and works in Exeter and Venice. In addition to long-term photographic observation of the endangered environment of the Venice lagoon, her more recent projects include research into sites commemorating the First World War.
The photographs and cyanotypes in the exhibition document the endangered ecosystem of the lagoon, especially the salt marshes. Photographic observations are made from a small boat, a swaying platform on which we look out from the water onto the land, across the expanse of shallow water to the horizon.
