The exhibition, curated by Dr Gerald Matt, uses a dialogue between five different artistic perspectives on performance and body art to examine the multi-dimensional and complicated relationship between transitory performance art, which is bound to place and time, and its medial recording. For it is photography in particular that continues to characterise the reception of transient artistic actions to this day. The photographic works in the exhibition are not documentations of past artistic actions, but have an autonomous artistic expression and value.
No limits presents exemplary works by pioneers of performance art: Marina Abramović, Gina Pane, Günter Brus, Valie Export and Jürgen Klauke.
