04.06.2024 – 16.06.2024
With thirteen selected productions, the 2024 summer scene presents itself under the motto CHANGE VIEWS. At seven different venues, the Performing Arts Festival presents rousing dance pieces, impressive theatre evenings, humorous performances and an unforgettable installation in the Kollegienkirche. Many of the international projects make a strong political statement: for example, the Portuguese Marco da Silva Ferreira addresses social inequality in his virtuoso choreography Carcaça and counters it with the power of the collective. The exceptional director Marta Górnicka brings the horrors of the Ukrainian war to the stage with her powerful choral production Mothers – A Song for Wartime. In L’Onde, the Franco-Algerian Nacera Belaza interweaves dance and music in a fascinating way to create a geopolitical mosaic of the female body and in Fêu by Fouad Boussouf, ten female dancers make a powerful statement of female strength.
True to the festival motto CHANGE VIEWS, the installation Gaia by Luke Jerram, which will be wafting in the Kollegienkirche for the entire duration of the festival and is designed to amaze young and old alike, also invites you to change your perspective.
