Anne Imhof is one of the most important artists of our time. Her characteristic means of expression are performances in which androgynous figures alternate in a captivating way between impassive passivity and elaborate choreography. An immersive audiovisual experience is created for the visitors. In a dynamic interplay of ubiquitous iconic elements from fashion, photography, subculture and pop culture, Imhof creates an atmosphere reminiscent of post-apocalyptic forms of isolation.
In the KUB exhibition, Imhof concentrates on painting and sculpture, which form the core of her artistic practice and bear witness to the further development of her performative work. The human figure takes on an allegorical presence. The exploration of the human condition that characterises Imhof’s work thus comes even more to the fore.
