ethnocineca is the largest Austrian festival dedicated exclusively to documentary and ethnographic film. This year’s programme, under the direction of Marie-Christine Hartig and Martin Lintner, which is dedicated to this year’s festival focus RE-RENDERING PERSPECTIVES from over 650 submissions, sheds light on the social necessities and demands for a change of perspective and the associated dynamics and processes of global change.
As part of the festival, awards endowed with prize money will be presented by an international jury in five competition categories: for the best international feature-length and short film of the festival (IDA and ISA respectively), for the best Austrian film (ADA), for the best newcomer short film (ESSA) and – as a tribute to the roots of the ethnocineca – for the best ethnographic film (EVA).
