Christian Eder’s work is characterised by parallel layered formations of lines, stripes and surfaces as well as the limited use of colour and form. Using a reduced, geometric vocabulary, he examines the interaction of surface, line, colour and form, using these to compose pictures that develop a dynamic that extends beyond the boundaries of the picture: Painting and abstraction as a visual experiment and challenge for individual vision. Constituting the image, this reduced vocabulary repeatedly appears before the eye as a serially composed, mutually overlapping and intersecting, abstract system of lines and stripes, then again as a structuring, oscillating pattern of order and in the form of multi-layered, complex geometries. The perception of colour, line, ground and form is challenged.
