In the Still Life 3000 series, Bregenz-born Claudia Larcher enters into a contemporary dialogue with the tradition of the classical still life. The works, created digitally and with the help of AI, are inspired by Rachel Ruysch, a pioneering Dutch artist of the 17th century. In her reinterpretation, Larcher, who lives and works in Vienna, builds a bridge between past and present, classical art and modern consumption, natural and technological elements. Larcher uses artificial plastic flowers that reflect the zeitgeist of the 21st century in their everlasting perfection and point to the ecological challenges of our time. The inclusion of a technoid bee drone emphasises the complicated relationship between nature and technology in a world threatened by climate change and the loss of biodiversity. Finally, contemporary artefacts such as iPhone-like accessories are integrated into the series, embodying both the spirit of modern living and the cycle of transience and renewal.
