Ina Loitzl and Renate Hausenblas are very similar in their technique and use of materials. Both work and process paper, textile materials, images from the Catholic devotional trade, which propagate a Catholic-influenced image of women and transcend restrictive conventions and attributions.
Starting from a feminine origin, the artists manoeuvre themselves into abstract worlds and create a personal understanding of being a woman with their multi-layered works. Established ideas of the male creator and female matter are scrutinised and ultimately dissolved.
While the first two rooms focus on the themes of nature and the body, in the last room the artists deal with the female role model within religiously connoted structures.
