The Bauherrenpreis was awarded for the first time in 1967. In a synopsis spanning six decades, the results of nominated and award-winning projects provide an overview of architectural work in Austria since the end of the 1960s. They reflect the influences of the changing framework conditions for planners.
A total of 110 projects were submitted in 2023. All properties were viewed on site in the federal states by nomination juries whose members do not come from the same federal state in which they work as jurors. In the course of the visits, a total of 25 projects were nominated, which were also visited on site by the main jury.
