The works of the Hamburg-born artist are mainly in the field of sculpture – from objects and sculptures to huge installations. The resulting mental space is enriched and expanded by interventions in public space, drawings or photography. She creates machines out of metal, concrete or rubber, which only at second glance elude a meaningful commissioning or function in terms of shape, material and construction.
Schmale is developing a new work for the former assembly hall of the Kunstraum Dornbirn, which stands in an exciting interrelationship with the central installation and content motif of the petrol station and the architecture.
