Since 1956, the Mozart Week has celebrated the great composer every year around his birthday in January in the city of his birth with the most renowned Mozart interpreters of our time.
Mozart’s oeuvre continues to be the shining centrepiece and inspiration of the world’s most important Mozart festival, but in the coming years a number of other great composers will join them, whose presence will make it possible to approach the life, work and incomparable genius from other exciting perspectives. This year, Antonio Salieri will take to the Mozartwoche stage. Mozart Week 2024 will revolve around the music and legends surrounding the two composers and rivals.
A high-calibre line-up of artists is expected, including Sir András Schiff, Emmanuel Pahud, Isabelle Faust, Antoine Tamestit, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Avi Avital as well as ensembles and orchestras such as the Danish Chamber Orchestra with Ádám Fischer, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Kirill Gerstein, the Basel Chamber Orchestra under Giovanni Antonini with Sabine Meyer, the Baborak Ensemble and the Hagen Quartet.
