Ambivalences and conditions are at the centre of Sarah Bechter’s painting. In large-format paintings, the artist dynamises form, space, colour and line. As a changeable image of a trance-induced imagination, we encounter human-like figures as fluid, almost magical beings. Even objects are given animated qualities, which Bechter allows to emerge flickering flames from the fountain of artistic creation.
In finely glazed layers of oil paint and pigment, Sarah Bechter interweaves questions about the social role of the individual with personal experiences in the pictorial space 07.
