On the basis of selected themes, the exhibition provides an in-depth and commented insight into the range of the Generali Foundation’s film and video collection, which since its founding has built up one of the most important collections of media art from the 1960s onwards, encompassing many important Austrian and international positions.
The focus is on media-reflexive film and video art, political film as well as feminist and performative video works. In addition, in a changing focus programme, Gottfried Bechtold, Sanja Iveković, VALIE EXPORT and Harun Farocki, four artists whose works have a particular relevance to media art and society, are examined in greater detail.
