Using multimedia installations, Desert of Realities reveals aspects of simulation on the one hand and develops counter-designs on the other.
In the Desert of Realities exhibition, the use of technology no longer appears merely as a dystopian model of a gloomy vision of the future or as a representation of the current state of affairs, but also as part of the solution that we should make our own – “It makes a difference whether you only know a way or whether you actually go that way”, as Morpheus wisely states in the film Matrix.
On show are works by Etsuko Ichihara (JPN), Amy Karle (USA), Flavia Mazzanti (ITA/BRA/AUT), Surzhana Radnaeva (RUS/FRA), Vivien Roussel (FRA), Christine Schörkhuber (AUT), Theresa Schubert (DEU), Winnie Soon (HKG) & Lee Tzu-Tung (TWN) and Zhé Wang (CHN/DEU).
