With the InTaKT Festival, an inclusive dance, culture and theatre festival was created by and for people with disabilities. Over 19 days, the festival sets an important example for inclusion in society.
The opening on 10 November with “Begger’s Opera” will take place at the Graz Opera House and will be performed by participants of the LebensGroß Theatre Academy, Georg Schütky and Planetenparty Prinzip. Artists with and without impairments will shape the performance with their personal stories and thus lend the material topicality and humour. In addition, there will be a discussion on the question “Who owns the opera?” with the opera’s artistic director Ulrich Lenz, director Georg Schütky, Susanne Maurer-Aldrian from LebensGroß and people from politics and culture.
Live translations into Austrian Sign Language, audio descriptions, subtitled videos and much more will be offered for the events. In this way, the festival directors, Lina Hölscher and Anja M. Wohlfahrt, and the InTaKT team want to create encounters between people with and without impairments and enable equal participation for all. This year, the event will not only take place in Graz, but will also be on the road in the districts.
