Gerhard Pelko is considered the old master of street photography. As a quiet observer, the photographer and writer has always consciously moved far away from the art market. His inventories of reality are always well-formulated, direct and relentlessly ambiguous.
“Near the coffin, reflection on one’s own life and work becomes fog-free and intense,” writes Gerhard Pelko. The exhibition of around 80 works recalls well-known series that have already been shown, but the focus is on unpublished b/w pictures from the last 50 years. It is the first solo exhibition in a long time and perhaps his last, according to him.
